I went to see these wild birds on display to earn money to help feed them and set them free and this little guy was guarding the tip bucket. I loved his big orange eyes.

HereI have done some artist studies for my 3rd yr film I'm working on, They wanted a certain type of line quality for it so I copied some images from Triplets of Belleville and The Illusionist. and then I went on to drawing my own ideas using this line quality.

This is a short storybook type animation I was asked to make by a film student for a web design company. It was my first commision so I was really excited yet nervous too as I only had 5 days to plan and animate it. Being a 2nd yr I thought it would be a great opportunity so I grabbed it. But I would never have finished it without the help of my boyfriend, who helped to paint and render the film.
Unfortunatly the video does not seem to want to show the camera movements  or the other effects on my blog video. but you get the general idea

Tonal Layout

Animal character walk

After doing my animal walk animation, we had to do a animal character walk. I found this one a lot easier than the walk as I was able to learn from my mistakes in the animal walk. The line is a lot smoother and body parts do not grown and shrink. I did this over the easter holidays. I also watched a lot of videos of leopards stalking, so that helped me a lot with me movement and timing. Here it is...

Animal walk

This is an animal walk we had to do for animation. Had never done a walk with 4 legs, so found it very tricky to get them to move correctly and in the right order. I dont really like this walk, I dont think its very good, but here it is anyways.

Here is my 2nd tonal thumbnail design. got one more to do and then I have to decide which to do for my final painting :)

Maya tabletop

Another tabletop design for the Columbus layout unit. I added a light source (the candle) and rendered it on the pc to use as reference for my tonal thumbnails.

Columbus tabletop layout design

This is just a tonal thumbnail I painted digitally, from a quick thumbnail design sketch of Columbus' table in his ship in 1492. We have to design a the table top for our layout unit at uni, coming up with some quick thumbnail designs and then playing arounnd with tone and lighting. I have come up with about 4 designs and this is one of them I did today, playing around with lighting and colour palette as we have to produce a full layout painting in the end. More will be posted later.

These are just 2 hand drawn animations we had to do for uni. The first one is a yawn & stretch and the second one is a jump. Thought i would upload these so in time when I have done more animating I will hopefully be able to see if i have made progress in my animating skills.
