My first still life painting in oils. Not so great, need more practice. 

Winter in the park

My second attempt at painting a landscape in oils. I feel I am getting used to using a palette knife to paint certain parts and the fun thing is you never really sure how it will turn out.

Autumn woods

My first oil painting I have done for a long time, and my first landscape I have painted in oils. I forgot how fun and relaxing it was. I wanted to try out a more rough style of painting, focusing more on colour and light like Peter Fiore and Robert Lemler. I definitly plan to do more and hopefully improve as I go.

Not such a great one today as my eyes felt so tired after wearing my contacts for too long. Found it difficult to stay awake for this one.

Day 4 of my self portrait painting. Today I wanted to try and draw and paint my portrait within an hour. I really enjoyed it as it made me focus more on the tone and colours rather than fiddling with details. I tried to use a large brush for as long as I could to keep the roughness of the painting. Looking forward to tomorrows one :)

Day 2 of my self portrait painting. I think this one is a slight improvement from yesterdays one. I might have found a brush that I like :) Hopefully I keep improving as the days go on.

Happy Halloween everyone

I didn't have much time to yesterday to do something for Halloween. So here is just a quick painted sketch. I wanted to do a  scary scarecrow and ended up with a evil cowboy scarecrow for some reason.

I really like the light and colours of my boyfriends moms fireplace so thought I'd try and paint it. I took me longer than it should have but I had fun learning.

Happy birthday Kelly

Took a break from my Hansel and Gretal Project to draw this giraffe for my sister for her birthday. She loves giraffes, so I thought it would be great to draw a giraffe who is just as much a fan of her as she is of them. Happy birthday Kelly.

I have been spending a lot of time on the characters. I feel  I need to just make a final decision on the design for Hansel so I can start painting a scene. So here is the final design for the boy, he is being painted up at the moment. His design is simple but it will do.

I made a few changes to her design and I am pretty happy with her overall loo. Next one to do is the boy.

Sangoma

I decided to take the  final design of my witch and paint her in more detail. I  am pretty happy with the end product and think I will paint the other two characters in this way. And hopefully soon I will be able to post up a finished concept painting from a scene in the story, just busy roughing out some thumbnails at the moment :)

Personal Project - Pearl Concepts

I have started a personal project which is based loosely on the story of Hasel and Gretel, however it is set in kenya. She is basically Gretel. I quite like her design, however I still need to explore further with the final painted style. Have not quite found something I like yet.

Witch (Sangoma) concept

For the witch I wanted her to be a large woman as it indicates that she has a wealth of food and therofore can lure in the children. I feel I still need to experiment more with colour and the finished style for the characters however I think the final witch design will be the last one, she seems less goofy than the previous one.
