Here is tonight's 1hr 20min portrait study. I struggled with this one today, my proportions are a bit off and I spent too much time on silly details.

Here is this mornings portrait study. I'm finding it easier to stick to the 5 tonal values for these now. I also try to work at a small scale and use a bigger brush so as to not get too caught up on the details.

Jazz on a Sunday morning

I had the intention to draw the chief for my Zulu tribe when I sat down this morning but I was listening to Jazz and all I wanted to do was draw a Jazz player. So here he is, I may do the rest of his friends.

It's been a busy last few weeks and not had much time to do some person work, which made me feel guilty. So tonight I made sure to do something before bed. Here is a warrior.

Surf swim

My new years resolution this year is do more personal work and make the time for it as well because last year was terrible with regards to doing any personal work. So I have picked a theme for my drawings this year and that is my childhood/teenage memories from when I lived in South Africa.

This one is a memory of me doing a surf swim for lifesaving champs. The sea was huge, the water cold and the weather miserable. I may have hated doing these events at the time but I'm glad I did. I have a feeling I will be doing a lot of scenes from my lifeguard days as that was what I did almost every weekend.
