Here is tonight's 1hr 20min portrait study. I struggled with this one today, my proportions are a bit off and I spent too much time on silly details.

Here is this mornings portrait study. I'm finding it easier to stick to the 5 tonal values for these now. I also try to work at a small scale and use a bigger brush so as to not get too caught up on the details.

Day 1 of male portrait paintings - Robert Pattinson


I realised that I tend to not painted or drawn many male characters as I find them quite difficult to get right - especially facial hair! As you can see above. So my task for the next few days is to paint various male portraits of all different shapes and sizes to improve my skills. I thought I would start off with a face fairly easy to paint - so here is Robert Pattinson.
