Death - Spring cleaning

After doing many character drawings these last two weeks, I feel I need to get back into my digital painting. So here is a rough sketch and tonal for a future painting. I think Im going to have fun with this one :)

The mother

Here is the design for the mother. I want to keep the characters as simple as possible as the comic needs to fit on an A5 page.

I did not have much time to do some drawing today, so these quick designs are all I could manage before dinner.

Saw a little rabbit in our garden this morning and so I got the urge to learn to draw some bunnies from photo reference. Also below that is a few facial expressions for a character I designed for a project for my dad. He wants me to design a family to do a comic for his company every month. I am still working on the mom and dad.

Hawaiian Holiday

I Felt like drawing a dinosaur today whilst watching scrubs and one of the characters was wearing a Hawaiian shirt. So I thought it would be fun to draw my dino on holiday in Hawaii.

Well here are more doodles to add to my daily doodle posts. I guess being a home with a dog and stressed out parents with kids is starting to come through my drawings.

Todays sketch ideas

Did not have time to do some studies today, but I managed to get in some doodles of my own. These are what I managed today.

Sketch idea

I had to urge to draw a witch in the Sanders style. I did not have much time today so its just an initial idea. I want to explore it further with a few other sketches.

Chris Sander studies

I did not have much time today, so I just did a page of artist studies and one sketch idea . Having a lot of fun with this style though.

Character doodles 04

After studying Chris Sanders this morning I atempted to do some of my own drawings in his style, some are more successful than others. However I still had fun and I feel I am learning a lot from doing all these artist studies :)

Morning artist studies

For todays artist studies I chose Chris Sanders to study from as I reallly like his use of line and I find it very fun to draw in this style. Even though his line work is simple, there is a clear understanding of human anatomy and I feel I need to simplify my drawings in a similar way to make them more cartoony. I want to study his style further as I really enjoyed this way of drawing.

Not the greatest drawings, but I felt I needed to post them up to keep in a routine. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Felt I needed to improve on drawing hands, so thanks to Toby Shelton I had some great study material.

Character doodles 02

These two characters are from a black and white film called "Vivacious Lady". I tried to draw them using my artist studies as a guide, but I don't think a managed to get it right.

 

More character studies

Today my aim was to learn how to draw different facial expresion as I find I stuggle to draw them in a simple but effective way. I struggled with Repunzel a lot, her eyes especially. But I could feel my brain learning new things which is always good :)

Artist studies

Since I have been neglecting my drawing for awhile, I thought I'd do some artist studies this morning to loosen up. I really like that shapes in these characters. My aim is to do studies like these so I can improve my character drawing.
